G-20 Summit: Start of a New World Order?

Did the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh mark the beginning of a new world economic order? Yes, according to an article in the BBC. The G-20 Summit proposals go far beyond just increasing banks' capital requirements. The G-20 seeks to regulate hedge funds, tax havens and executive pay - something that would have been unthinkable before the economic crisis.
The G-20 proposals are "unprecedented," according to Tim Ryan, chief executive officer of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. The industry does not like the proposals, saying increased regulations will hamper the ability of banks to recover from the recession. This is a good point. However, the G-20 has been asking for these regulation for two years. This is the first time the U.S. has been willing to agree.
The Summit established a new Financial Stability Board which establishes common financial regulations for all G-20 countries. The Board will work with the World Bank and the IMF who have been subcontracted to implement many of these policies.
New regulations will:
•Require banks to hold more capital, providing a cushion to prevent further bailouts.
•Tie executive pay to long-term, not short-term, performance.
•Make sure companies that are "too big to fail," like AIG, to develop international contingency plans so their collapse wouldn't threaten the entire global economy.
•Move all derivatives contracts onto exchanges or electronic platforms so they can be better monitored.

The Jesus You Can't Ignore
I, along with 3 other brothers in Christ, are about to begin an exploration within the book "The Jesus You Can't Ignore" - by John MacArthur. A quick glance at the table of contents shows us that this journey will indeed be challenging. The title(s) of the chapters consist of such headings as; "When it's wrong to be nice", "Two Passovers", "A Midnight Interview", " This Man Speaks Blasphemies", " Breaking the Sabbath", "Hard Preaching", "Unpardonable Sin", and "Woe". This journey will be exciting, challenging, and it is my hope that it will aide in my on-going transformation. With that said, I thought it would be a good introductory exercise to explore some of the words from Jesus - the words that we cannot afford to ignore . . . .
- John 8:31-32: If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
- John 14:23-24: If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to my Father who sent me.
- John 8:42-44: If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
- John 3:14-17: Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Oh wow . . . fasten your seatbelts . . . .what a journey this will be!

This is just another example of the worldview war that we find ourselves in . . . Remember, there is no middle ground - if you make a truth claim, then every idea, thought, or argument opposed to your truth claim - would be considered false. We have individuals, who have been elected, within Congress that have a radically different worldview than that of our founding fathers. These folks know what they believe and they are making disciples. As a Biblical Christian, do you know what you believe? Are you making disciples? Do you understand the times in which we are living?

Church before Culture - Brannon Howse
Below is an article from Brannon Howse that explains a new book, "Already Gone" by Ken Ham. The basis of the book, is that many of children are not walking away from the faith in college, but in reality have left the faith or checked out during adolescence - they are indeed already gone! Ham's book could not have come at a better time. He does a great job in sounding the warning bell for the churches within America. The question is - will anybody listen and try to bend the trend?
That question brings me to my next thought . . . does the modern church of today even know what is going on? I was once a part of an "Evangelical" mega-church. It was great . . . I could grab a latte at the church coffee shop, buy the latest "cutting edge" book on how to be a christian, listen to the worship concert (to get you in the mood), open service with the most current NOOMA clip (that really tugged on the emotional heartstrings), and then proceed to get 22 minutes of self help from a "pastor" who was aided by 5 different versions of scripture.
The only thing missing was the true gospel message of Jesus Christ. Now, to be fair, we would get half the gospel message - the warm, fuzzy, loving half - BUT, the part about sin, judgement, and wrath were left out (those topics tended to offend and hurt numbers - which would effect the latest building campaign - which was necessary to spread the above mentioned "gospel message"). And, from what I have come to discover - half a gospel equals no gospel at all . . . just like half a christian equals no christian at all (see REVEAL STUDY at http://www.revealnow.com/storypage.asp?pageID=5) Question? - should that suprise anyone? The truth of sin and the depravity of man didn't fit in nicely with the latest Purpose Driven or Externally Focused church movement. In its haste to be relevant, the modern church of today has been lead astray. It brings to mind the words of II Timothy 4:3,4 - "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths."

My friend and Worldview Weekend speaker Ken Ham has written an excellent book with Britt Beemer and Todd Hillard entitled, Already Gone: Why your kids will quit church and what you can do to stop it. Ham worked with a professional pollster to survey those who went to church every week or nearly every week and they deliberately polled conservative congregations, not liberal ones. Let me share some highlights from their book that confirm that the church needs to be reclaimed before we even attempt to reclaim the culture.
· A mass exodus is underway. Most youth of today will not be coming to church tomorrow. Nationwide polls and denominational reports are showing that the next generation is calling it quits on the traditional church. And it's not just happening on the nominal fringe; it's happening at the core of the faith.
· Only 11 percent of those who have left the Church did so during the college years. Almost 90 percent of them were lost in middle school and high school. By the time they got to college they were already gone! About 40 percent are leaving the Church during elementary and middle school years!
· If you look around in your church today, two-thirds of those who are sitting among us have already left in their hearts; it will only take a couple years before their bodies are absent as well.
· The numbers indicate that Sunday school actually didn't do anything to help them develop a Christian worldview...The brutal conclusion is that, on the whole, the Sunday school programs of today are statistical failures. · Part of the concern is that the mere existence of youth ministry and Sunday school allows parents to shrug off their responsibility as the primary teachers, mentors, and pastors to their family.[1][1] http://www.worldviewtimes.com/article.php/articleid-5294/Brannon-Howse/Brannon-Howse

In retrospect, we may discover that 1883 was a most significant year. We're familiar with 1848 giving us The Communist Manifesto and 1859 giving us The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life, but 1883 gave us three portentous happenings. Planned Chaos - The Cloward Piven Strategy

The Third Way
In a recent class discussion, many questions were raised regarding the role(s) of government, church, and how Christians should interpret/react to the changing of culture of today??? Below, is just a snapshot of some thoughts/notes (in rough outline form) that were shared in class. Bottomline - God created specific institutions and man (because he is sinful) is destroying those institutions. We are truly in a spiritual battle and the only way to make sense of any of this, is to turn to the One who is sovreign. We, as BIBLICAL CHRISTIANS, must stand up - we must do our duty and occupy until He returns. Here is the Million Dollar Question - are you ready and willing for what it will take to stand for Biblical truth, to stand for Jesus - in a world that is raging against Him?

What is a WORLDVIEW?
* It answers our fundamental questions about existence, reality, and God...
* Why are we hear? What is the meaning and purpose of life? Is there a difference between right and wrong? Is there a God? Are humans merely highly evolved animals?
* Your worldview is based upon your values and your values are what guide your conduct.
* Ideas have consequences...bad ideas have bad consequences!
*Your worldview should and does contain clear perspectives regarding the following areas:
1. Theology
2. Philosophy
3. Ethics
4. Biology
5. Psychology
6. Sociology
7. Law
8. Politics
9. Economics
10. History
George Barna research states that less than 1/2 of 1% of individuals ages 18-23 have a Biblical Worldview.
The question to ask yourself - "from what perspective am I looking at these different areas?" Is it a Biblical Worldview, a Post-Modern Worldview, a New-Age Worldview, or a Marxist Worldview? Depending on how you answer that question will determine what you allow to influence your life. It is an important question . . . my hope is that you take it seriously!
